[Notification] Search a file on file servers from KonanLink

KonanLink can now search a file on office file servers.

To search for a file on file servers, your KonanLink account must be registered to the user list of file server that you want to add to KonanLink.

If your account is NOT registered to the user list of the file server, please let the administrator of the file server register your KonanLink account.

If your account is registered, Select ‘Menu > Add service > FILE SEVER’, and then select the file server that you want to add to KonanLink from the list of file server.

Now you can search a file on the file server from KonanLink.

KonanLink uses the user’s personal computer as search server

KonanLink, a personal unified search service, creates and saves search index files to the user’s personal computer (PC, laptop, Macintosh) instead of KonanLink server, and also the user’s computer itself operates as KonanLink search server.

The following picture depicts how KonanLink searches and views a file or mail.

1) “①Type a keyword and request search” from the user’s personal computer or smartphone
2) KonanLink search server in the user’s personal computer transfers results to device or smartphone that requested “②search result”
3) When the user “③clicks search result” from the computer or smartphone,
4) KonanLink requests “④download” to the device that contains the search result (for example, Dropbox server or office PC)
5) View the transferred file through the user’s computer or smartphone using a viewer app or program (in this case, a photo viewer that can view photo files) or send it to another person

By creating index files in the user's personal PC and Mac, KonanLink is free of privacy issues

KonanLink, a personal unified search service, creates and saves search index files to the user’s personal computer (PC, laptop, Macintosh) instead of KonanLink server.

Therefore, KonanLink does not download or save the user’s files or mails to KonanLink server. In other words, the user’s files or mails are saved in his/her device, and index files are saved in his/her computer, so there is no privacy or security issue.
