To ensure your privacy, your computer is used as the Search Server, so there is no need for your files or mail to be stored at KonanLink. Hence; it is not stored.

Search Support only on Your Device

You can access to your KonanLink account only on your KonanLink registered PC or smartphone, so unregistered devices are denied access to your KonanLink account.

KonanLink can now search a file on office file servers.

To search for a file on file servers, your KonanLink account must be registered to the user list of file server that you want to add to KonanLink.

If your account is NOT registered to the user list of the file server, please let the administrator of the file server register your KonanLink account.

If your account is registered, Select ‘Menu > Add service > FILE SEVER’, and then select the file server that you want to add to KonanLink from the list of file server.

Now you can search a file on the file server from KonanLink.

[Notification] Search Gmail from your smartphone without installing KonanLink on your PC

Until now, KonanLink PC version had to be installed in order to search Gmail from your smartphone. 

However, from now on, you can search Gmail from your smartphone without installing KonanLink on your PC.

So KonanLink supports the following devices:

-       2 user PCs (Windows, OSX)

-       2 smartphones (iPhone, Android phone)

-       Outlook mail

-       Maximum of 5 accounts from Dropbox, Google Drive, MS OneDrive, File Server (will be supported in late-March), Gmail, Mail (IMAP), Evernote (You may use all 5 accounts as 'MS OneDrive' or 'Gmail,' and also you may use both personal and office accounts.)

However, please note that KonanLink PC version is still required to search user PC, Outlook mail, Mail (IMAP) and smartphone.

KonanLink VS ES File Explorer/ASTRO File Manager/PC Desktop search

Here is a table that shows why KonanLink is the most advanced file search service ever.

[Notification] Is your search result too long?

It may be difficult to find what you are looking for if your search result is too long. Not only you would have to sort through the search result, you would end up being frustrated.

We recommend that you narrow down your search result by adding more search queries in addition to your original query. For example down below, we search for KonanLink and found 371 related files.

But if we add “Keywords” onto our original search query, we are able to reduce to search result down to 38 related files.

Additionally, you could narrow down your search result even further by omitting certain keywords you want to exclude. For this example, we use “-app” on top of our “KonanLink Keywords” in order to get our search result down to 6 files. 

Additionally, you could narrow down your result even further by filtering the file date and the type of files.

[Notification] KonanLink provides time setting option for indexing process

In order to ensure user privacy, KonanLink uses each user's PC as the search server, thus creating search index files on the user's PC. Since personal PC is used as the search server, KonanLink does not (and does not need to) save the user's file or mail to any external sources.

In other words, KonanLink creates or keeps index file up to date by using user's PC resources. Therefore, depending on the user's PC environment, it may be inevitable that the PC momentarily runs slowly during indexing process.

If you feel discomfort in using your PC, you can change "Index time settings" to only process indexing at night. However, please be aware that since indexing process will only run at night, files and mails saved during the day can only be scanned from KonanLink after 8pm.

[Notification] KonanLink provides laptop power connection setting for indexing process

In order to ensure user privacy, KonanLink uses each user's PC as the search server, thus creating search index files on the user's PC. Since personal PC is used as the search server, KonanLink does not (and does not need to) save the user's file or mail to any external sources.

In other words, KonanLink creates or keeps index file up to date by using the user's PC resource. Therefore, while indexing process is running, there may be a slight increase in laptop battery consumption.

For this reason, by default, KonanLink only performs indexing process when the user's laptop is connected to power. However, in this case, any file or mail saved to the user's laptop while it is not connected to power will not be searched until the laptop is connected to power and indexing process is running again.

If you wish to run indexing process even when the laptop is not connected to power, then change "Laptop power settings" to "Always process indexing."

To use KonanLink, install and sign in to KonanLink on user's PC

KonanLink is a free personal multi-device search service that scans user's PC, Cloud, email, Evernote and smartphone files, mails and attachments from smartphone or PC in just 1 second.


KonanLink is a service that searches user's personal resources, such as documents, photos and mails, so we try our best to ensure user privacy.

In order to search web mail from KonanLink, please follow the below steps.

- Run KonanLink from PC
- Go to Settings > Devices and click Add button
- Select MAIL (IMAP)
- Enter IMAP server address, port, web mail account and web mail password, then click Okay

If the message below pops up while adding Gmail,

First, check whether you have entered correct IMAP information.

If the same error message pops up after entering the correct IMAP information, you can add Gmail to KonanLink search objects through the following steps: from Google account page, go to "Sign-in & Security > Connected apps & sites" and switch "Allow less secure apps" to "ON."


In order to change the settings from Google account,

- From Google account page, go to "Sign-in & Security > Connected apps & sites"

- Switch "Allow less secure apps" from "OFF" to "ON"

Now, you can add Gmail to search objects and search Gmail from KonanLink, as well.

How to search multiple devices at once using KonanLink...

KonanLink can search PC and Mac, as well as Google Drive, Dropbox, MS OneDrive, Evernote and webmail registered to KonanLink at once.

The procedure to register devices on KonanLink for file search is as follows:

1) Click 'Add service'.

2) The list of devices that can be added as search objects will appear.

3) In order to add Dropbox as search object, click Dropbox from the list and sign in to Dropbox.

4) If Dropbox appears on the device list, it has been registered to KonanLink.

Now, you can search Dropbox files at once from KonanLink, as well.

[Notification] What is the difference between KonanLink and KonanLink Premium?

Once you sign up for KonanLink, you can search all of your devices at once. (The image below is the screenshot of KonanLink from smartphone)

Type in "guaranteed" on the search bar. KonanLink will show files(mails) that include the word "guaranteed" in the title or the content.

Once you click a search result, the preview of the file(mail) will be displayed on screen, and you can either send to others or open the file using File Explorer.

However, under KonanLink free account, you can only read or send files(mails) that have been last modified within 3 months. Therefore, to read or send any file or mail older than 3 months, you would need to upgrade to Premium.

The differences between KonanLink and Premium are as follows:

- Whether you can read or send files(mails) older than 3 months
- Whether it supports File Explorer

[Notification] What if you signed up for KonanLink, but cannot search from KonanLink...?

To protect user privacy, KonanLink uses "user's PC or Mac" as the search server. Therefore, KonanLink does not need to, and thus, does not save user's file or mail in external sources.

For this reason, if the user does not install KonanLink on PC or Mac, the search server will not be created, making it impossible to search from KonanLink.

In order to search using KonanLink, the user must install KonanLink on PC or Mac, and sign in with the account he/she created from smartphone.
